The Christmas season has always been my favorite time of year. However, a few years ago I began to get completely overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle, and found myself wishing for the season to be over. Each year seems to have become progressively busier, and I start off each January wondering how I never made the time to enjoy Christmas.
A little over a month ago, I was brainstorming ideas of ways to keep myself focused on the heart of the season. I knew I wanted to do a blog series in the month of December that would help me stay focused, but couldn’t decide on the best route to take. Then, a few weeks ago, a friend asked me to share my favorite Christmas memory. We talked for a while, sharing Christmas stories, reminiscing about simpler times.
That conversation sparked a hint of Christmas nostalgia. The more I thought about the stories we shared, the more sure I became of the December blog series. I started writing and sending emails and messages, then waited for responses. I was nervous about what I was asking people to do, but to my surprise, almost everyone was eager to participate.
I asked some of my writing friends to share the gift of Christmas with you all. Beginning December 2, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday through Christmas day, I will feature a guest post by one my friends. I asked them to write whatever comes to heart and mind about Christmas, whether that’s a favorite memory, a poem, a devotional or a funny story. It’s a way for us all to stop for a few minutes this season and enjoy the gift of Christmas.
I’m very excited about my guest writers. Each one of them has spoken hope into my life through their written words. I expect the words they share here will do the same for you.
Be sure to come back on Monday to receive the first gift of Christmas spirit!
