Well, I missed writing on Days 8 and 9…not from a lack of things for which I am thankful, but because the words wouldn’t come in the short amounts of times I’ve had to write.
Even this morning, the words are slow to come. But there are three I can’t get out of my mind. Even during the night, these words replayed over and over in my head:
You are loved.
Since January, God has revealed these three words to me in many forms. Most recently, they were the first three words on a piece of junk mail I happened to read. Every time I feel unworthy of His love, these three words appear…in a song, in a book I’m reading, in a Tweet, in a Facebook status, in a magazine, on TV, in a blog post, in an email.
Stasi Eldredge says in her book, Captivating:
When a woman knows that she is loved and loved deeply, she glows from the inside. This radiance stems from a heart that has had its deepest questions answered. Am I lovely? Am I worth fighting for? Have I been and will I continue to be romanced? When these questions are answered yes, a restful, quiet spirit settles in a woman’s heart.
And every woman can have these questions answered yes. You have been and you will continue to be romanced all your life. Yes. Our God finds you lovely. Jesus has moved heaven and earth to win you for himself. He will not rest until you are completely his. The King is enthralled by your beauty. He finds you captivating.
Over the past eleven months, God has revealed His love for me, and it’s the same for you:
- In your best behavior, you are loved.
- In your worst behavior, you are loved.
- In your questioning, you are loved.
- In your wrestling, you are loved.
- In your running from Him, you are loved.
- In your crawling back to Him, you are loved.
- In your pride, you are loved.
- In your brokenness, you are loved.
- In your hurt, you are loved.
- In your weakness, you are loved.
- In your strength, you are loved.
- In your fear, you are loved.
- In your wasted chances, you are loved.
- In your self-righteousness, you are loved.
- In your anger, you are loved.
You are always, always loved.
Today {and every day}, I am thankful that God loves me. I am thankful for three little words that continue to remind me of His love for me.
